Year 7 Cricket Success

Y7 Cricket Success July 2016

JMHS is building a reputation for cricketing excellence in the county with the Year 7 and Year 10 teams coming top in the Herefordshire Schools Cricket Association competitions this summer.

Our Year 10 team won their trophy at Burghill and Tillington in June after beating finalists Lucton. This might have added pressure on the year 7’s to perform, but if it did, they didn’t show it as they took on Hereford Cathedral School in the David English county cup final on Wednesday 6th July at Cathedral School’s charming Wyeside ground.

JMHS batted first scoring 141-7. Charlie Creswell was one run short of a half century and paired with Bruno Recordon, they scored 83 between them. After the half time tea break, HCS scored 120-8 with Charlie Creswell and Sam Booth taking two wickets each. It was a keenly contested final with JMHS coming out overall winners, beating Cathedral by 21 runs.

Our Y7 cricketers now go on to represent Herefordshire in the regional stage of the David English competition in 2017.

Congratulations to the Y7 cricket team on their fantastic achievement:
