Athletics Success

Athletics 3On Saturday 11th June, 3 students from JMHS represented the Malvern Hills Athletics team, following qualification at the inter-schools district Athletics League at Malvern College. The students competing were Kaisan Tulloch, Annie Hunter and Sarah Admans. All three students had either won or were placed in second place against all schools in Malvern in order to qualify.

The day started with Kaisan Tulloch competing in the Triple Jump, his warm up jump turned a lot of heads due to his incredible bounce and stride. Kaisan hit the board accurately on all 3 jumps, his best jump measured at a huge 12.42m. He came 2nd in the Counties of Herefordshire & Worcestershire in the Inter boys category (Year 10 & 11).

Annie Hunter competed in the 100m, placed a very close 4th in her heat in a time of 14.6s. Unfortunately, she narrowly missed out on qualification for the final later in the day. She did however represent Malvern Hills in the 4x100m relay team in the afternoon. Sarah Admans competed in the Long Jump, she showed true resilience and perseverance after a few frustrating jumps and finished with a jump of 3.69m. Ex-student Emma Cockett also competed in the 100m (13s) and 200m (27.5s), winning both of her finals and goes through to the Mason Trophy.

Athletics success June 16Kaisan Tulloch also competed in the 100m, running very well to make a time of 12.6s. The fact that this time did not qualify him for the final highlights the level of quality athletes at this competition. Finally, Kaisan competed in the High Jump, he was again up against Year 11 boys in his category, however he remained composed and jumped a massive 1.75m. This placed him, again, in 2nd place out of 14 athletes who had qualified in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Following Kaisan’s success he has now qualified to represent Herefordshire and Worcestershire in the Mason Trophy at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham this Saturday 18th June. Congratulations on this great achievement, we wish him the best of luck!
