Language Leaders Primary School Visits

Language Leaders at John Masefield is a very popular scheme and aims at harnessing the enthusiasm of our Y9 language students. Aspiring leaders have to complete an application form expressing why they deem languages to be an important part of their education and within society today. Successful students support their language teachers at Open Evening, Y5 evening and they also get the opportunity to create, plan and lead MFL lessons at a local primary school. Our current group of Y9’s have planned exciting and engaging lessons in at least 7 different languages including; French, German, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin, Dutch and Czech.
The first visit to Ledbury Primary School was a resounding success with our students doing a brilliant job confidently teaching children in their Y5 classes.
The students impressed LPS’s teaching staff who have contacted JMHS to say;
Thank you so much for bringing your students down to us yesterday. I was so impressed by the lessons I saw. Your students delivered the lessons with confidence, great knowledge and also made them great fun!  The resources they had prepared were to a very high standard and I thought the range and variety was fantastic.  All of our students enjoyed it and one even greeted me in French this morning!”
Well done to all the Language Leaders involved.
