Olympic Gold Medallist Inspires Students

On Thursday 12 July, we were both privileged and honoured to welcome former Paralympic swimmer and gold medal winner at the Beijing Olympics, Liz Johnson to our school. Liz came to work with our Year 9 Leadership Academy. The London 2012 bronze medal winner took our students through their paces, setting various challenges that required team work and resilience. Liz also delivered an assembly, sharing her inspiring and motivating story and how she rose to be a Paralympian and the obstacles she had to overcome. This included waking at 4:30 every morning to drive the 110 mile round trip between home and training and back.  Liz struck a rapport with the students who benefitted greatly from her input and energy. We would like to thank Liz for motivating and inspiring our Year 9 Leadership Academy students and Sports Colours winners.
