Year 10 Cricketers are County Champions

Y10 County Cricket Winners June 2016

The Year 10 Cricket team became County Champions on Tuesday 7th June with a 7 wicket win over Lucton School in the final at Burghill and Tillington CC. After winning the Plate competition in Year 9 the boys have targeted the Cup competition for a year and have shown great teamwork and determination to achieve their goal.

After a very close game against John Kyrle and an incredibly impressive performance against Hereford Cathedral, the boys approached the final with great confidence. After losing the toss and being asked to bowl the team bowled and fielded with great discipline to bowl Lucton out for 36. Faced with a small target to win the game the team batted aggressively and, despite losing three wickets, reached their target in 6 overs.

Congratulations to the team; Dean Seeliger, Oli Aston, Ed Aston, Oli Parker, Harry Booth, Menno Recordon, Tom Davies, Will Saysom, Dan Dawe, Rylan Ashman, John Watkins and Jasper Gilbert on their well deserved victory.

The team will now go on to represent Herefordshire in the Midlands T20 Competition. Having been drawn away to the champion school from Warwickshire we are well aware of the challenge, but are looking forward to seeing how far we can go.

The players and PE staff at JMHS would like to take the opportunity to thank the parents of the team for their excellent support so far this season. We would also like to thank Ledbury CC, in particular the groundsman, Jeff Fletcher, for providing excellent facilities for our home games this season.
