Students celebrate excellent GCSE results

Staff at John Masefield High School were extremely proud this morning as Year 11 students received excellent results.

Almost 1 in 5 of the grades achieved were the top grades of 7, 8 or 9, with over 70% of students achieving a grade 4 in both English and mathematics. Stand out subjects included fine art and physics where, in both subjects, over 16% of students achieved the highest possible grade of a 9. There were further successes in biology, chemistry, computer science, further mathematics and German with over a quarter of students achieving a 7 or above.

All of our students have shown true commitment to their studies, consistently striving to achieve their personal best, and consequently receiving the strong grades that they deserve. We would particularly like to congratulate the following students who have performed exceptionally well:

Emilia Lumb: Eight Grades 9s, two Grade 8s

Nicolas Pencak: Seven Grade 9s, two Grade 8s

Isaac Seabright: Four Grade 9s, three Grade 8s, two Grade 7s

Emily Pontin: Three Grade 9s, five Grade 8s, two Grade 7s

Dr John Holmes, Headteacher, congratulated students, ‘We are very proud of our students and it has been wonderful to celebrate these fantastic results with them today.  It has been a pleasure to work with these young people and we are delighted that their hard work and mature attitude, coupled with strong support from staff at the school and from family and friends, has led to such great success.  We wish them the very best for the future.’
