JMHS Sports Update

The Year 8 team played in the first round of the national stage of the Schools Cup. They played against a very talented and experienced (this was their 10th game this season) Bromsgrove school. We found the going tough on a wet and drab afternoon. The boys played some good cricket with courage – a catch by Bruno at first slip off Sam B was the highlight.

In football both the Year 7 and Year 8 teams reached the county finals played at Edgar Street and both happened to be against Whitecross. Having played some scintillating football, attacking with verve and vigour and defending stoutly, sadly the Year 7’s lost on sudden death penalties and the Year 8’s lost 2-3. Thanks to all the players and the parents and carers who came to support.

In badminton, Chad, Luke, Sam, JJ and Max, have always represented us well. This year they took their achievements a step further by reaching the national stages of the competition. They played wonderfully and finished in 8th place out of nine on the day, but this is actually 8 out of 2000 schools that entered. Well done and thanks to the boys who took part and to parents and carers  for travelling and supporting.
