  • Getting to school

    Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Council Buses

If your child is attending their nearest school and you meet the criteria below, then Herefordshire or Gloucestershire Council have a legal obligation to provide free transport to and from the school.

    The criteria are:

    • You live over three miles from school
    • OR you have income-based free school meals and live over two miles from the school
    • OR your child’s route to school is less than three miles, but too dangerous to walk even if accompanied

If your child does not qualify for free transport you may be eligible for the “vacant seat payment scheme” and the council may be able to offer you a chargeable seat.

More information regarding school transport and the application process can be found through the links below:

    Walking and car transport

We encourage students to walk to and from school wherever possible. If walking or bus travel is not possible, and car transport is unavoidable, we ask that parents share cars where possible and are considerate of local residents. Cars are not allowed to enter or exit the school car park between 8.25am and 8.45am, or between 3.00pm and 3.30pm to drop off or collect children to keep our students safe.
