    Behaviour and Rewards

At John Masefield High School, we place high importance on positive behaviour, mutual respect and a strong sense of community. Our behaviour approach is built on clear expectations, consistency and fairness, ensuring that all students understand how to make positive choices and take responsibility for their actions. We aim to create a calm, purposeful learning environment where every student feels safe, supported and able to succeed.

Positive behaviour is actively recognised and celebrated through a structured rewards system that values effort, achievement, attendance and contribution to school life. Students are rewarded for demonstrating our core values both in lessons and around the school, reinforcing high standards and encouraging pride in their work and conduct. Rewards may include praise, certificates, points, assemblies and other opportunities that recognise individual and collective success.

When behaviour falls short of expectations, we take a supportive and restorative approach, helping students reflect on their choices and learn from mistakes. Clear systems are in place to address concerns consistently, with appropriate support and intervention provided where needed. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure a shared understanding and to support students in maintaining positive behaviour.

Through this balanced approach of high expectations, recognition and support, John Masefield High School promotes positive behaviour, personal responsibility and a culture where students are encouraged to do their best and contribute positively to school life.
