2024 A level results

Year 13 students at John Masefield High School are celebrating their A level and BTEC results today. Overall more than 30% of students achieved A*/A grades and over two thirds A*- C grades.

On the back of these results, all students who applied to university have confirmed places, with the vast majority of students attending their first-choice university. A number of students have confirmed Degree or Higher apprenticeships in a range of subjects including cyber security and accountancy.  All can be extremely proud of how well they have achieved.

Two of our highest achieving students are taking different pathways, one will be reading Computer Science at the University of Oxford and the other will be completing a Degree Apprenticeship with QuinetiQ.  We have had many successes at all levels due to students working hard, strong family support, excellent teaching and individual support and pastoral care.

A wide variety of subjects including Computer Science, French, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, English Literature and Photography received a strong majority of top grades, while all our EPQ students achieved A* grades.

Lana Laidler (Head of Sixth Form) said  “Many students (and parents) have commented today about how much they have enjoyed the last two years in sixth form and feel well prepared for their next steps.  It has been a privilege to work with them all and a delight to see them leave as mature young adults. They thoroughly deserve the grades they have achieved. We wish them all health, happiness and success in the next phase of their lives.”
