Sixth Form Students Perform Live at BBC Proms

On Friday night we were very proud of two of our Sixth Form students who performed in the opening night of the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, which was televised live. Emma Warren and Elen Clarke, both of whom study A-level music and are going on to study Music after Sixth Form, travel to Birmingham weekly to rehearse with the renowned City of Birmingham Symphony Youth Chorus, who this year were invited to perform alongside other choirs including the BBC Symphony Chorus at the opening night of the proms. They sang a challenging minimalist piece called Harmonium by John Adams, accompanied by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and conducted by well known Ed Gardner.

This was an amazing experience for the girls, and they look forward to singing The Planets in another Prom on Tuesday 25 July.
