Following the outstanding success of last year’s production of Oliver! the Musical, John Masefield High School is thrilled to announce its next theatrical event — and a milestone for the school — with its first-ever production of Shrek the Musical.
Based on the beloved DreamWorks animated film, Shrek the Musical brings a hilarious and heart warming story to the stage, celebrating friendship, acceptance, and finding beauty in what makes us different. Featuring memorable songs, vibrant costumes, and larger-than-life characters, this family-friendly production promises to entertain audiences of all ages.
The decision to stage Shrek the Musical follows the overwhelming response to Oliver! the Musical, which was met with sold-out performances, enthusiastic community support, and praise for the students’ talent, energy, and professionalism. Building on that success, the school’s performing arts department is excited to take on an even bigger and bolder production.
“This show allows our students to showcase their creativity, teamwork, and confidence on stage,” said Mr Rodgers, Head of Drama. “After the success of Oliver!, we wanted to challenge our cast and crew with something fun, dynamic, and meaningful — and Shrek the Musical is the perfect choice.” Miss Mortimore-Price, Head of Music, says “I am very excited to be leading the orchestra, made up of students and professional players.”

Performances will take place at 7pm every evening from Thursday 12 February to Saturday 14 February and a matinee performance on Saturday 14 February at 2pm. Tickets are £11 for adults and £6 for children and are available from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/masefieldarts.
John Masefield High School invites the community to join them for a magical theatrical experience filled with laughter, music, and a powerful message that everyone deserves to feel like they belong.
