2024 GCSE Results

John Masefield High School students in Year 11 were celebrating strong results in their GCSE examinations this morning.  Many students who had worked extremely hard deservedly achieved good results.

Over a third of grades achieved were at Grade 6 or higher, with over 70% of entries in English language and mathematics at a grade 4 or above.

Particularly strong subjects included computer science and German where over 40% of students achieved the top grades of a 7, 8 or 9. Also, over a quarter of students achieved these top grades in each of biology, chemistry, physics, food and nutrition, health and social care, history, and music.

Individual highlights included:

Tim Pedder: Eight Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, one Grade 7
Layla Crickett: Four Grade 9s, five Grade 8s and one Grade 7
Kai Phillips-Drew: Three Grade 9s, six Grade 8s and two Grade 7s
Hannah Lumb: Two Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and two Grade 7s

This is an outstanding achievement for all of these individuals and many other students have worked very hard and achieved the strong grades they deserved.

Adem Osbourn, Deputy Headteacher, congratulated students, ‘It has been a pleasure to work with this motivated group of students, who have worked hard to secure the grades that they deserve. Throughout their time at JMHS, these Year 11 students have consistently strived to improve their knowledge and understanding in lessons, supported by excellent teachers, and underpinned by their conscientious revision at home. We are very proud of the results that students have achieved, and wish all of our students every success in JMHS Sixth Form, or their chosen college or apprenticeship.’
