SEND Careers Open Morning
Opportunities to work with students with special educational needs at John Masefield High School
We would like to warmly invite you to our SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Careers Morning at John Masefield High School on Friday 21 November.
The purpose of this event is to welcome members of the community into our school to meet our dedicated SEND team, learn more about the support we provide for our students with additional needs, and to explore potential opportunities to join us as a Teaching Assistant or Apprentice Teaching Assistant. Please find further information here: https://www.jmhs.hereford.sch.uk/about-us/job-vacancies/ .
Whether you are:
- Looking for a new job or a meaningful career change,
- Or a job with flexible hours to work around other commitments
- Retired from education and keen to share your experience and expertise, or
- Someone who would like to be part of a fantastic, supportive team helping young people to reach their full potential,
…we would love to meet you.
We have opportunities available for candidates experienced in working with students with SEND as well as candidates who are starting their career, looking to change career, or looking to gain new qualifications. We would welcome interest from candidates who do not yet have experience in SEND and are looking to build knowledge and understanding whilst in employment. We are keen to share with you our bespoke training offer that will allow you to earn as you learn.
Alternatively, we are able to offer a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship, through the Gloucestershire College and delivered at JMHS, leading to a recognised accredited qualification. Holders of this apprenticeships can progress to a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant Fast Track Apprenticeship, or Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship (for candidates holding a suitable degree). This provides an ideal training pathway for those looking to work as a cover supervisor, coach, tutor, or teacher. More information about the can be found at: https://www.findapprenticeship.service.gov.uk/apprenticeship/VAC2000000504 .
During the morning you will have the opportunity to:
- Meet our SENDCo and members of the Learning Support Team
- Gain an insight into how SEND provision works at John Masefield High School
- Visit our Learning Support spaces and see our work in action
- Ask questions and find out more about our current Teaching Assistant vacancies and training opportunities
We are incredibly proud of the inclusive and caring environment here at John Masefield High School. Our Teaching Assistants play a vital role in supporting a wide range of young people to achieve their best and become confident, resilient learners.
If you are interested in attending, please contact us at sendco@jmhs.hereford.sch.uk to confirm your place. We hope you will join us and consider being part of this rewarding and inspiring work.
We look forward to welcoming you.
