Year 8 student Chad Warren travelled to Glasgow last week for a 3 day badminton tournament which attracted a host of international players. In the team event Chad helped his team to finish third out of 12 teams by beating a doubles team from France, and the top Danish pair.
In the individual tournament Chad had a day of tough luck. In singles, having beaten his opponent from Scotland, Chad lost out to a skilful French seed 21-23 in the third set. In mixed doubles, after an opening victory, he went down 19-21 in the deciding set, and in the doubles quarter final faced the Danish pair again and was squeezed out 18-21 in the final set.
Despite the disappointments, the experience of competing against such high calibre of players will hopefully serve him well in the future.
