Carnegie Shadowing 2019

On Friday 14th June 2019 11 Y8 & Y9 students attended the Herefordshire Libraries Shadowing Event at the Shire Hall in Hereford. This group of students have been studying the 8 books shortlisted for the awards since March and were keen to meet with other students from schools in Herefordshire to find out their thoughts and ideas about them.

We spent the day discussing the shortlisted titles and debating which book we felt deserved to win the medal when it is officially announced on the 18th June.

Author Paul Dowsell was at the event and he discussed his amazing book Sektion 20 and all the research and work that goes into creating his novels.

Our students performed an outstanding presentation on our nominated book…The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo with art pieces and a poem created using lines from the book itself.

It was a fantastic day, well done to everyone who took part. Many thanks to the Slyvia Short Educational Charity for providing us with financial support for this visit.
