The following message has been sent to all parents and carers via email on Sunday 22 September:
Dear parents and carers,
I wanted to reassure you that, although like many other schools in the area we were badly affected by the storms on Friday afternoon, we are currently expecting to open as usual tomorrow. As far as we are aware, all school transport services will be operating as usual.
In our case, being badly affected by the storms meant significant flooding in the sports centre and our science and maths block. Thanks to some heroic efforts by our school business manager, Mrs French, our site team and our cleaning staff on Friday and over the weekend – aided by some very intense mopping by Miss King and Mr Osbourn on Friday, we have been able to make the school safe for students. I am sure you will be as grateful as I am for the significant work they have done to protect the experience of the children.
There will be some small changes to the ways in which children move around the school whilst repair work is ongoing. We will share all of this information in tutor time tomorrow morning.
Unfortunately, there is a yellow weather warning of rain from midnight tonight, which becomes an amber weather warning from 5.00am tomorrow. We will be monitoring the situation closely, and liaising with school transport providers, and we will let you know if anything changes. I know it will go without saying that we will always prioritise the safety of our children.
With best wishes,
John Holmes
Headteacher
