School remembers Mr Terry Neal

It is with sadness that we share the news that Mr Terry Neal, former Headteacher at John Masfield High School and before that Ledbury Grammar school, sadly passed away during the school holidays.
Mr Neal, together with his wife Beryl, arrived in Ledbury in 1970, making a home in the school house which adjoined the Grammar School itself. Many parents and indeed grandparents at JMHS will have been at these schools whilst he was headteacher.
Always a kind man, who did what was right, Mr Neal was highly regarded by both staff and pupils alike due to his wisdom and quiet wit.  The successful amalgamation of the Grammar and Secondary Modern schools in Ledbury to form John Masefield High School was in no small measure down to him.
Mr Neal spent his retirement at his home in Cheltenham, with Beryl.  A proud Yorkshire man, who loved cricket, poetry and his family, Mr Neal will be very fondly remembered by those who knew him.
