The U15 cricket team are county champions following a pulsating victory against Hereford Cathedral School. JMHS won the toss and elected to bat and this looked like a great decision as we amassed 105 runs for the first wicket. Dom (41) and Lucas (62) getting the team off to a great start. Others chipped in with some useful quick runs and we closed our innings on 157.
We started the second innings strongly, taking a quick wicket, but thenĀ Cathedral School dug deep and got a strong foothold in the game and started picking off the runs. With the score on 123/1 and 7 overs remaining, there looked like there would only be one winner. However, it was then the turn of JMHS to dig deep. A few tight overs, followed by some key wickets (Jack with 2, Lucas with 3) saw Cathedral School needing 11 off the last over and then 4 off the last ball. The crowd fell silent, time seemed to stop. Billy came bounding in and released a fierce leg cutter. The batsman swiped. The edge was taken. Thud! Ball into Harry’s chest. Slap! Gloved hand securely clasps the ball. Victory!
