Inspired by the England Hockey Commonwealth Bronze medals, JMHS students go one better! In blistering heat, on Thursday 19th April our Year 8 Girls team played their socks off in their rearranged County tournament. They faced Lady Hawkins, John Kyrle and Hereford Cathedral over the course of the afternoon. They opened with a close 3-3 draw against Lady Hawkins, followed by a 1-0 win against John Kyrle. Heading in to the final game, all was to play for. A win against Cathedral would have meant Gold medals for JMHS. Our girls were up for the challenge ahead, after being silver medalists to Cathedral in Year 7. All players were committed, hard working and determined and it was a narrow 1-0 defeat at the final whistle. There were a few stand out performances; fantastic goal keeping from Elli Thomas kept us firmly in the game and Katie Dudley showed resilience and full JMHS spirit in attack.
