Cricket Update…

Our U14’s  lost in the cup quarter finals in a pulsating game in the sports hall due to the poor weather. Lucas Recordon (Y8) bowled amazingly and secured figures of 6-26, quite remarkable. Sadly this was not enough and we lost a narrow game.

This put the team in the Plate final that was played on Monday 24 June. Losing the toss we were asked to bat first. Two run outs did not help us get off to a good start but Seb and Jude recovered well and helped us to a handy total of 92 from twenty overs. Jude in particular impressed with strong hitting and swift running between the wickets.

We fielded well and bowled well in patches, but in the end John Kyrle had just enough in the tank to get over the line and win a close game. They had got off to a flyer, but following an inspirational team talk at the drinks interval JMHS really dug deep and conceded only 6 runs in 6 overs. Lucas Recordon (Y8) was the pick of the bowlers 4-2-6-2. Well done to all those that took part in the game.

The U15’s – lost a very close game to Hereford Cathedral school in the semi final of the cup. We posted 125 from 20 overs and this looked to be a good score on a handy track for the bowlers. However, JMHS were never really able to put Cathedral under any sustained pressure and they batted with maturity and poise. Well done to all those who took part in a very skilful game of cricket.

Finally our U13’s – have played strong cricket all season and I have been impressed with the number of boys who are keen to play. Lucas captains the team well and as well as being skilful himself, shows good ideas to remove batsmen. They are unbeaten thus far and play in the cup semi final next week.
