Latest Youth Council Projects

The Youth Council has been involved in two projects this term. In response to a suggestion by pupils at JMHS they have planted 120 small rooted saplings to form a hedge near the riverside walk by the Little Marcle Road roundabout. They came out in the rain to prepare the ground before planting, getting very muddy in the process! They then came back the following weekend to do the actual planting.

During November they worked with the local council staff to help at the Christmas Lights switch-on event in the town. They helped decorate Santa’s Grotto and the panelled room on the Friday evening and then, dressed as elves, helped in Santa’s Grotto and assisted children who were doing craft work throughout the afternoon.

Well done to our Youth Council members for all of their commitment and efforts in supporting the work of the Youth Council.

The Youth Council are holding an assembly at school on the 29th January to help promote the work they do and encourage more students to get involved.
