On Thursday 24th January a number of Y7 and 8 classes had an exciting and unusual experience; working with 6 local bell ringers to learn all about the art of campanology. Students were able to look at the engineering of the bells, the maths of the patterns used to ring and practice using the patterns with hand bells. Pupils were also able to learn the technique of ringing church bells using a structure that was specially designed for this education project – imitating exactly how a bell and pulley work. Students were extremely engaged in all of the sessions, it’s a lot harder than it looks!
