Wizard of Oz Production a Resounding Success

WofOz 3After months of preparation, our long-awaited performances of the Wizard of Oz took place at the start of March. We kicked off with 2 matinees to our local primary schools, and 3 performances to the public. Over 100 students took part from every year from 7 to 13, whether this was in the cast, in the orchestra, backstage, lighting, sound or set painting. Casting was excellent, and fantastic acting and musical performances were given at every show by our leads Libby Warren (Dorothy), James Welch (Scarecrow), Roma Farnell (Tinman) and George Chambers (Lion), as well as supporting roles from Destiny Dawe, Katiemae Munrowd, Jason Johns, Polly Mikulicz and Rosy Turner to name but a few.

WofOz 4The chorus of over 50 students wowed the audience in their colourful costumes with confident singing and exciting choreography. Our biggest orchestra yet, of 26 students, performed superbly, whilst backstage and technical crew were able to run their teams without much help from staff.

We have received lots of positive feedback from the audience including:

“We would just like to say what a fantastic performance that was. We came on Sat evening, our first JHMS production and we were overwhelmed by the standard of acting, singing, music, choreography and faultless performances.  An excellent evening. Congratulations to everyone!”

“Congratulations all the cast, musicians and back stage crew for a superb production of The Wizard of Oz. It was a pleasure to watch so much talent having fun and at the same time putting on a professional production. Full credit and thanks should also go to all the staff in making the production work so well. Well done to you all – it will take a lot of beating”

We are incredibly proud of all the students who were involved in the production, with many calling it the best production yet. After many tough rehearsals, barely a single mistake was made in our performances to the public – well done everyone!
