Year 9 Netball Success

Year 9 Netball Compete at West Midlands Tournament

After being crowned Herefordshire County Netball Champion before Christmas, our Year 9 students have been training hard ahead of the West Mids tournament held at Bromsgrove School on Sunday 29th January.

Our students looked fantastic in their kit, kindly sponsored by Mr Richard Carter (Chartway), The Ledbury Rotary Club and Speller Metcalfe. Their dresses and tracksuits, along with staff jackets, were worn with pride and provided an extra boost to rise up to the challenge ahead. In extremely cold and wet conditions they faced a number of private schools in the West Midland Finals. They faced a hard challenge of 6 games played between 9am and 1:30pm, requiring focus and constant team cohesion, as well as key conversations and reflection between games. Out of the six games, we won one, closely lost another 11-10, however the girls never lost their fight or passion and now they have experienced this they are striving to qualify again when they are in Year 11. Amongst the 3 state schools out of 16 in the West Midlands who qualified at U14, JMHS came out on top. This is a fantastic achievement for JMHS, Ledbury and Herefordshire too! Our students did us proud playing with resilience and in great team spirit.

Thank you once again to our sponsors for their generosity! Thank you for being a key factor in our students experience, where memories have been created, which will last a lifetime.
