Youth Council Support Ledbury’s Community Day

Ledbury’s Youth Council (comprising of JMHS Students) were honoured to take part in this years Community Day. Here a member of the Council tells us what their participation in the event involved:

“On Saturday 9th June, 9 members of the Ledbury Youth Council took part in the Ledbury Community Day. In the morning, we were stationed at St Katherine’s, to inform members of the public about who we are and what we want to achieve. We talked to a lot of people, although not as many young people as we would’ve liked. We received a lot of feedback and ideas of what we could do to get noticed. We teamed up with SYM, as many members of Youth Council are also involved with Strong Young Minds, to help raise awareness of mental health in our society. In the afternoon, we joined the Children’s Centre to do a teddy bears’ picnic, as our family picnic last year was such a success. We had a tombola, treasure hunt and parachute games.”

Jill Jupp the Honorary President of the Friends of Ledbury Children’s Centre was delighted the Youth Council were able to attend their tenth anniversary event, saying “the friends really appreciated their involvement and the varied activities that they arranged, alot of hardwork goes into events such as this and their participation really helped to make the Fun Day a true community event. Your commitment really demonstrates what excellent role models you are for John Masefield High School.”

Congratulations to all the members of the Youth Council for their continued dedication and hard work.
